Overview of “Ashikaga Flower Park”

Ashikaga Flower Park is a beautiful flower theme park located in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, and is famous as one of the three famous spots in Ashikaga.

The garden celebrates Japan’s natural beauty and flowers and provides a rich experience for visitors.

The history of this garden dates back to the 1920s, when President Hayakawa’s father planted large wisteria in part of the garden.

In 1968, the garden was renovated and Hayakawa Farm, the predecessor of Ashikaga Flower Park, was established.

At first it was a rural area, but the surrounding area became urbanized and four large wisteria trees were transplanted to the current location in 1996.

This transplant was carried out by Konami Tsukamoto, Japan’s first female arborist, and was the first successful transplant in Japan.

In addition to wisteria, many other flowers and plants bloom in the park, attracting many visitors from spring to fall.

There are many water features such as ponds and creeks within the park, where nature and flowers are in harmony.

Ashikaga Flower Park has been selected as a Japan Night View Heritage Site for its spring illuminations and is said to be the first in Japan to have multiple Japan Night View Heritage certifications for the same facility.

Additionally, in 2015, it was certified as a satellite sacred place for lovers, making it a special place for lovers.

Fuji no Hana Monogatari – Beautiful Spring Wisteria Festival

Ashikaga Flower Park is famous for its magnificent wisteria trees.
In particular, the spring ”Fuji no Hana Monogatari” is one of the highlights of the park.

This wisteria has been designated as a natural monument of Tochigi Prefecture and attracts many people with its beauty.

There are two connected wisteria trellises, each of which is 160 years old as of 2021, and the connected trellis is approximately 2,000 square meters in area, making it known as the largest wisteria trellis in Japan.

Fuji no Hana Monogatari” is a wisteria festival held from mid-April to mid-May, and the wisteria is illuminated at night to coincide with the blooming period, further enhancing its beauty.

Many bus tours and special trains operate during this period for visitors to enjoy.

This beautiful wisteria resembles the Tree of Souls from the movie Avatar, and has received international acclaim, including being selected by CNN as one of the world’s top 10 dream destinations in 2014.

Garden of Light Flowers – Fantastic winter illuminations

Ashikaga Flower Park also offers attractive events during the winter season.

The illumination ”Garden of Light Flowers” is held from late October to early February, and is a light and sound production with the theme of the importance of the earth, space, and environment.

Approximately 1.8 million wisteria petals are displayed on the illuminations.
We are reproducing the large wisteria using LED light bulbs.

In addition, you can enjoy a magical atmosphere by incorporating moving light murals and water mirrors to double the amount of light.

This illumination has been certified as one of Japan’s three major illuminations, and its scale and quality have been highly praised.
