Akashi Kaikyo Bridge
The ”Akashi Kaikyo Bridge” connects Honshu and Awaji Island in Japan.
The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge took 10 years from the start of construction (1988) to its opening (1998). With a total length of 3,911 m and a central span of 1,991 m, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world until 2022.
Originally, it was designed with a central span of 1,990 m, but it seems that the overall length was extended by 1 m due to ground displacement caused by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
It seems that the bridge girder was extended by 80 cm in the central part and by 30 cm on the Awaji side. It is said that the top of the main tower also leaned about 10 cm toward Awaji, but it seems that there is no problem because it was originally designed to move about 1 m due to factors such as vehicle traffic and temperature.
Anchorage (anchor block)
The role of receiving the tension of the main cable with its own weight and transmitting it to the ground.
Because the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is a long bridge, it becomes a powerful tension.
To catch it, the anchorage is also quite huge.
It seems that humidity is also controlled inside so that the cable does not corrode? It would be a problem if the wires rusted and cut inside.
Attention is also paid to places that cannot be seen.
You can see the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge up close, and you can also go directly under it.
It is an irresistible sight for those who like huge buildings.
It’s amazing how a suspension bridge of this size is made up of pillars, wires, and truss structures.
Gourmet
Seafood rice bowl with fresh seafood from the Seto Inland Sea, hamburgers with excellent Awaji onions and beef, onion flour with a whole fried onion, Akashiyaki, octopus tempura, paste, etc.
You can enjoy the specialties of this area in one place.
1 fried whole onion.
The visual is true to the name of the onion flower.
Serve with ketchup and mayonnaise.
It will crack with a crisp sound. The taste is also quite delicious.
“Takoten (octopus tempura)” on the left and “Onion croquette” and “Akashiyaki” on the right.
Takoten was a perfect match for crispy fried batter and octopus that tastes better the more you chew.
If you receive it as it is, it will not be salty, so sprinkle the salt on the counter with your preference.
Akashiyaki was like steamed egg custard with a firmness that allowed it to maintain its round shape.
It is completely different from the common takoyaki without sauce.
It was so soft that it could be loosened when dipped in the soup stock, and it was also very delicious.
