Overview
Course from Osaka City in Japan to Mie Prefecture.
The section from Tenkawa Village in Nara Prefecture to the connection with National Route 169 in Kamikitayama Village is especially steep.
Although there are some rough roads, the scenery is beautiful and the course is enjoyable to run.
Gose City near Gose Minami IC
Start near Gosho Minami IC on the Keinawa Expressway (free section as of 2023) (National Route 309 itself continues from Osaka).
Road Station Yoshinoji Kurotaki
Yoshinoji Kurotaki is a popular roadside station with a variety of foods and a grassy plaza.
There are many attractive foods such as the specialty “Kushikonnyaku“, Wild boar croquette,”Botan soup” and “Ayu grilled with salt“. It is also a point that it is in a good place to take a break.
Tenkawa Village General Information Center
At the entrance to Tenkawa Village is the Tenkawa Village General Information Center.
After this, Route 309 will turn left and the road will become narrower and run alongside the Tenno River.

Run along the “Tennokawa”
Run while looking at the “Tennokawa” on the right side.
The width of the road is narrow, and there are many spots on the left where the rock surface is bare and the road surface is wet due to spring water flowing out here and there.
Mitarai Valley
From Route 309, you can proceed to the promenade.
This is a course where you can enjoy beautiful clear streams and elegant waterfalls, and you can go all the way to Dorogawa Onsen.

Mt.Gyojyagaeridake
After passing through the Mitarai Valley, the slope gradually rises.
Gyojyagaeri Tunnel
The Gyōjagaeri Tunnel runs through Mt. Gyōjagaeridake.
There is a parking lot for climbers just before the tunnel.
After passing through this tunnel, you can see a magnificent view of the mountains in the distance, and the narrow downhill road continues.
Connected to Route 169
Connect to Route 169 at Nishihara, Kamikitayama Village, Yoshino District, Nara Prefecture.
It continues to Kumano City in Mie Prefecture through Route 169 and the overlapping section.
