A small fishing port in Owase City, Mie Prefecture. The seabed is shallow and depending on the weather, the water is transparent and very beautiful.
Kuki Fishing Port
Kukigyo Port (Kukigyo-kou) is located in Owase City, Mie Prefecture, Japan.
Owase City is situated in the southern part of Mie Prefecture and is known as the Ise-Shima area, renowned for its beautiful coastline and abundant nature.
It is not a tourist destination, and there are no shops or restaurants where you can eat.
However, thanks to this, it has a quaint feel as a small fishing port. The sea is calm and clear, and the quiet ships and fishing port buildings evoke the imagination of how bustling it must have been in the morning.
I was impressed by the indescribably calm atmosphere.
The sea is so clear that you can see the ocean floor. This is why it is called “Kuki Blue”.
If you visit, we definitely recommend a sunny day. I think it looks so beautiful because the water is shallow and reflects the light, but when I looked it up on the internet, there was an article that said it was the deepest fishing port in Japan.
Does it suddenly get deeper if you go a little offshore?
The way the blue looks changes depending on the way the light hits it. I tried taking photos in other locations, but this one seemed to be the most transparent.
The appearance may change depending on the weather and time of day.
It was nice and quiet. There is a market, but it doesn’t seem to be sold to the general public.
It is exclusively for wholesale, and unauthorized persons are prohibited from entering.
