Overview of “Aoyama Plateau”

Aoyama Plateau is a beautiful plateau that extends from the eastern part of Iga City, Mie Prefecture to the western part of Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, and is part of the Nunobiki Mountains.

It has a maximum altitude of about 800 meters, and is located in the eastern part of Murou Akame-Aoyama Quasi-National Park, extending about 10 kilometers north and south from Mt. Kasatori, the main peak of the Nunobiki Mountains.

From this plateau, you can overlook Ise Bay, and the natural beauty of each season fascinates visitors.

Wind power and the environment

Aoyama Plateau is also known as the path of the wind, and is located in an area where the wind blows from Wakasa Bay through Lake Biwa to Ise Bay.

For this reason, 91 wind power generation facilities have been constructed to take advantage of the stable annual wind speed of approximately 7 m/s.

These include the Shin-Aoyama Kogen Wind Power Plant and the Aoyama Kogen Wind Power Plant, which have a total maximum output of 155,000kW and are proud of being the best wind power generation facility in Japan.
