Overview of Gassan Road
Gassan Road is a 30.9 km long bypass road of National Route 112 located in Yamagata Prefecture.
Its nickname is ”Gassan Hanagasa Line“. This road is a scenic road that represents Yamagata Prefecture, and is loved by many touring enthusiasts for its beauty and unique route.
Also, as the name of the road suggests, one of the attractions of this road is that you can ride alongside the beautiful mountains called Mt. Gassan.
Seasonal scenery
Gassan Road offers beautiful scenery throughout the year, so you’ll want to visit again and again depending on the season.
In the winter, the area is covered in snow, in the summer it is surrounded by lush greenery, and in the fall, the leaves are brightly colored.
In the spring, if you veer a little sideways, you’ll also find a famous cherry blossom viewing spot called Kuwadai Sakura National Park. You can enjoy the different charms of each season.
