I knew of its existence from an early age because of its easy-to-understand coloring, but this was my first time actually riding it.
It is also possible to ride on a motorcycle, so I think it can be used for touring, so I will summarize it.
The output is 19,858 kW (27,000 hp) = 1,986 “Suzuki Gixxer 150” with an output of 10 kW! !

Two Reasons to Choose a Ferry
Reason 1 You can stay and move at the same time
You can eat and bathe on board. It is attractive to be able to stay and move at the same time.
Depart Osaka at 20:20 and arrive in Beppu at 8:40. A boat trip of about 12 hours.
Reason 2: Travel by land is only one way
If you return by land, it will be one way, so the driver will be less fatigued.
Plus, you don’t have to go back and forth on the same road, so you can enjoy the drive with a fresh feeling.

Arrival at the platform
Enter from Nanko “ATC North” intersection.
I’ve been around here before, but this is the first time I’ve been to the boarding area.
Turn left at the next traffic light, then turn right and you will see the entrance on your left.
Pedestrians can board directly from the ATC.

Ticketing at the ticket counter
▲From the parking lot (boarding waiting area), go through the dedicated passage to the ticketing counter inside the ATC.
▲I will do the procedure at this counter. The procedure was easily completed just by telling the number of the web reservation. Explanation that the departure is scheduled for 20:20 and boarding by car on board is around 19:00. I was asked to wait in the car at that time.

Inside the ship
The ship has a 4-layer structure, with the 1st and 2nd floors being spaces for vehicles, the 3rd floor being shared spaces such as restaurants, baths and shops, and the 4th floor being guest rooms.
I booked a private room this time.
You will receive your room key at the onboard counter upon boarding.
In addition to this, there were restaurants, shops, large baths, and public spaces on board.
It’s a vehicle that moves like a motorcycle, but a boat with all the facilities you need to spend comfortably is exactly the opposite.
The shop sells souvenirs, bread, cup ramen, sake, bread, etc., but there are no lunch boxes, rice balls, etc., so it seems that you should use the restaurant for a solid meal.
So, if you don’t use the restaurant, it seems better to buy a boxed lunch before boarding.
his room

This is a private room for 2 people. There is a table, a TV, a sink, and a bunk bed. Amenities included towels, yukata, toothbrushes, and slippers, so there was nothing to worry about.
There is no toilet in the room. I realized after booking that there was no window. I tell myself that the night is pitch black and I can’t see anything.
If you want to see the scenery, go to the deck or public space.
During the voyage, I felt the vibration of a single-cylinder motorcycle all the time, and it was comfortable.
The water in the cup was shaking regularly.
I thought that if I took a video of it, it would have been communicated to the people who watched it, and I regretted not having taken it.
Departure from Osaka (Nanko)
Shortly before departure, the engine seemed to rev up a little earlier.
The wire to close the gate was reeled in, the gate was closed, the ropes securing it at the quay were removed, and they were reeled inside the ship.
After that, the sound of the engine became even louder, and we departed from ATC in Nanko at 20:20 as scheduled.

Sailing
Since I was sailing in the Seto Inland Sea all the time, there were no big waves and I didn’t feel any tremors.
It’s just engine vibration. I can feel it in my room, so I don’t mind.
Passing Akashi Kaikyo Bridge
At around 21:20, there was an announcement onboard that the ship would soon pass under the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. Let’s go to the observation deck.
▲The scenery of the Genova Line that I boarded before was also good, but this time it was lit up at night and it was very beautiful.
First sunrise
▲As it was the morning of New Year’s Day, we could see the sunrise from the boat.
Unfortunately it was cloudy, but I could see it through the gap.
It was a very red and beautiful sunrise, and the other passengers on board were also noisy.
Coming soon to Beppu (Oita Prefecture)

The wind was so strong on the deck that I almost dropped my photography equipment.

Arrival in Beppu

Another ship, 「Sunflower Kurenai」, was docked. It berths there like parallel parking.
This striking color has been around for a long time. I feel safe for some reason.
Arrive at Beppu Port

I will dock with the feeling of hitting there. It’s an unbelievable method for cars and full cowl bikes, but it’s normal for boats.
▲ It seems that it can move laterally with equipment called side thrusters. The sound of “side thruster” is already cool. If you put it on your bike, it will improve cornering performance. However, on land, compressed air is used… Does that mean that compressed air is made in advance and stored in a tank? Or should the jet engine be mounted sideways (response is also bad)? It’s a waste no matter how you look at it.
