History and development of Osaka International Airport
This airport is the predecessor of Osaka No. 2 Airfield, which opened in 1939.
In 1959, it became a Class 1 airport under the Airport Development Law and developed into an international airport with many international flights.
However, problems such as noise and pollution problems occurred, and troubles such as lawsuits by residents occurred one after another. As a result, the development of a new airport was taken into consideration.
In the 1990s, due to a policy change by the local government, international flights were moved to Kansai International Airport, but it survived as an airport for domestic flights.
