Overview of National Route 425

Unlike National Route 42, which runs along the coast of the Kii Peninsula, National Route 425 connects Gobo City in Wakayama Prefecture and Owase City in Mie Prefecture, crossing over mountains.

This road crosses the Kii Mountains, passing through Totsukawa Village, Shimokitayama Village, and Kamikitayama Village in the southern Yoshino region of Nara Prefecture, and intersecting with National Routes 168 and 169.

National Route 425 has not been improved except from Gobo City to Tanabe City, and some parts of it are known as “bad roads.”
